Rave, Rant, Ramble

Rave, Rant, Ramble

Have you ever been in one of those moods where you just get annoyed by everything possible? Ya, that is me most of the time. I wouldn’t call myself a pessimist, but I sure do love to complain….a lot. Ask anyone that is close to me. I should really keep a tally of the amount of times that I complain in one day. Well this is a short post today, but below is a cute little list of some of the things that really get under my skin.

  1. dirty shoes
  2. greasy hair…just wash your hair
  3. humidity
  4. when people use food stamps incorrectly…yeah, i’m a cashier
  5. when I drop something, pick it up, then drop it again
  6. When I get halfway down the stairs, then realize I forgot something upstairs
  7. half eaten fruit that’s then left out on the counter to get dried out and weird looking
  8. when my boyfriend doesn’t get his hair cut for a very long period of time then looks like a bum :)
  9. people who walk really slow even though they know you are behind them and want to get around
  10. when people are rude to me for no reason at work. HAVE A NICE DAY!
  11. when someone pays me 13.00 in quarters
  12.  rain
  13. when the snow turns black near the roads due to the ashes and salt
  14. when hangers break
  15. smelly people
Ok…that’s it. I promise I won’t complain in upcoming posts. Point is, we all have things that annoy us. And hey, I bet I annoy people with some of the things that I do. In the end, we are all tied in life’s game of annoyance.

I Dream of Traveling to….

I Dream of Traveling to….

Dublin Marked on Map

I would love to be able to travel. Get up and go and never look back. Sadly, I’ve never even been out of the states. I feel like I am missing out on so much by not traveling and experiencing different cultures and ways of life. I feel like people who travel are so much more well rounded and understanding when it comes to unique lifestyles. I want to be that way. My number one destination on my list of places that I would love to travel to is Ireland. In fact, I am wearing a vintage map of Ireland around my neck a I write. No, not a full sized map. A cute little section neatly cut out and placed in to a clear charm. My sister found it on etsy.com (check that site out! FULL of cute hand crafed everything!!) and thought it was perfect for me. She has the same desire to travel to Ireland as I do. We embrace our Irish heritage right down to our porcelain white skin that will NOT tan. I’m okay with that. I want to go to Ireland to see where my family came from; that is so important to me. As of right now, that won’t be happening any time soon. I’m a poor college student working my way through finals and papers. Ireland, though on the back burner, will happen.

So where do I want to go? Here’s a short list of some of the places I’d love to see:

  1. Ireland
  2. Germany
  3. London
  4. Barcelona
It would be nice to say that after school I’ll travel the world, but lets be realistic here, it won’t happen. But it will someday. Slowly but surly, I will cross each of those destinations off of the list; and i’ll be sure to let you know all about it when it happens.

Love Letters and Break Up Texts

Love Letters and Break Up Texts

I wish writing letters and sending them through the mail was still mainstream. Now, everything is done via the internet or cell phone. While it might be more convenient, the internet is slowly ruining the wonderful little things that makes love, well…love. Sending a text message saying “love you!!” seems to be much less personal then writing a hand written letter describing all of the wonderful qualities you enjoy about your loved one. Love letters are great! I still write them on occasion and hand them to my boyfriend. Things seem so much more meaningful that way. Even though text messages make it easier to talk more often, they almost seem to distant couples. I’ve noticed that text messages make missing your loved one almost impossible. Yes, you still miss you significant other, but I mean really miss them. Missing someone makes a relationship that much stronger, in my opinion.

Now to move on to break up texts. It’s one thing to start a relationship through text messages (that’s more of a middle school thing), but it seems like couples of every age find it appropriate to end a relationship though a text. ” Hey, I think we need to talk, I don’t think this is going to work out.” How awful? I can’t be a hypocrite though, because I did it once….but he really wasn’t worth it…trust me. When people are too afraid to confront someone, they turn to texting, or other forms of electronic communication, to make the job easier. What happened to actually meeting up with the person and talking to them face to face?

While  technology makes it easier to stay in contact with family, friends, or significant others, it might also be ripping them apart. Love letters have slowly turned into break up texts.

Mans Best Friend

Mans Best Friend

Daisy May

Dogs have that certain energy level that we are attracted to. They’re fun, loving, full of energy, and best of all cuddle monsters. My friend decided to bring her dog, Brooklyn, with us to the beach while we vacationed. One might think that taking your dog on  vacation with you is a bad idea, but really, it turns out that it is fantastic. Brooklyn seems to keep us all upbeat and on our feet. She is always willing to jump up on the couch and cuddle with you, then seconds later dash (coincidentally Dash is her middle name!) for her toys and set them at your feet, waiting for you to throw them so she can receive and repeat. Dogs have that ability to make anyone feel special and loved. One kiss to the cheek says ” I wanna be your best friend!” And that is the wonderful thing. Once a dog trusts you, they will be your companion for life. I have a chocolate lab, Daisy, that I love with all my heart. I got her for my 16th birthday, and from day one we were instantly bonded together. She is an amazing dog with a huge heart, and I am obviously missing her very much while I am on vacation; however, while I still miss Daisy, Brooklyn is doing a good job at distracting me! Dogs are amazing! They know when you need a pick-me-up and they are always there to count on.  There is no better therapy than dog therapy if you ask me. Below is a link for a great article on other reasons why dogs are wonderful. Check it out. And be sure to give your pooch some love today; they deserve it.
